Burt W. Ferguson, CPA graduated from Texas Tech University in 1973 and joined Childers and Turner, CPAs in Odessa, Texas immediately following graduation. He became certified in 1975 and, upon the retirement of Urban Childers in 1977, he became a partner in the newly formed Turner, Ferguson & Company, CPAs. The accounting firm experienced rapid and continuous growth with Burt’s implementation of cutting edge technology into every aspect of the accounting practice. Bill Turner and Burt Ferguson practiced together until 1998 when Mr. Turner retired. Burt became the managing partner of the expanding and newly formed accounting firm, Turner Ferguson Cowan Shelton & Sager PC. Under his leadership, the firm continued to grow and became one of the preeminent accounting practices in the Midland/Odessa area.
In 2010, he decided to step back from the managing partner duties and relocate to Corsicana, Texas, closer to his children and grandchildren. Using advanced computer and accounting software, he continued to provide accounting services to his in-state and out-of-state clients and practice as a partner in the Odessa firm from his Corsicana office. In 2016, having firmly established his practice in the Corsicana location, Burt decided to leave the Odessa office and start his own accounting firm, The Ferguson Group LLC.
Mr. Ferguson has over 40 years of experience in the preparation of individual, Corporate, Fiduciary, Partnership, Gift and Inheritance tax returns. He also has extensive experience in tax planning for businesses and individuals and the ability to think “outside the box” to arrive at the best tax plan for a business or individual client.
