The Ferguson Group LLC is on the cutting edge of information technology. Because so many of our clients are not located in the same geographical region as our office, most of the information we exchange is via electronic means. We still use regular mail, UPS™ or FedEx™ for those clients not comfortable with email and electronic file transfer.
For those of you familiar with electronic information exchange, we offer the ability to upload and download electronic documents of various types. Excel™ files, Word™ Files, PDF™ files and Quickbooks™ Files. Email attachments work well for small amounts of data that do not contain sensitive identity information. For other information, we provide a secure file transfer facility called Smartvault™. Once you are signed up with us for Smartvault™, you can upload files to us directly for use in preparing your returns. We will post your completed returns and other information to your Smartvault™ account for you to download or review when you wish. Your Smartvault™ account is free to you and is only accessible by you and our staff. You will have your own user id and password that allows you to access your information only. The information you upload to us along with returns we prepared will be accessible by you for the last 5 years we prepared your returns conveniently grouped by tax year (i.e. TY14, TY15, TY16, etc). This will allow you to maintain a repository of your tax information in case you need prior year copies for banking or financial purposes.
